    More Info

The Abaca wall covering is made from a banana plant fiber that is processed by hand and then woven on hand looms and held together with cotton thread.

At the time the Spanish arrived, Filipinos were spinning and weaving fabrics using two materials besides tapa: cotton and abaca. Also known as "Manila hemp," the abaca plant is actually a small, inedible species of banana, Musa textilis. The strong fibers of the stalk are stripped off primarily to make rope, but many Filipinos also make cloth of it and make an extremely durable fabric.

Application is easy; the matting can be, either glued or stapled to any surface. All our matting is flexible and pliable and can be cut or trimmed without the risk of unraveling. The product can be used for both interior and exterior projects and treated with clear polyurethane or varnish for added sheen and durability.
