Matting

Much of Sunset Bamboo's™ all natural matting comes from the South Pacific where the art of creating matting from the natural leaves of the palm tree is a centuries old tradition passed down from artisan to artisan, generation to generation. A culturally rich practice, products made from matting had useful applications throughout their lives because of its unique durability to withstand rigorous elements such as salt water and monsoonal rains.

Our highly focused minimally impacting consciousness means that we are very careful about using products that are highly eco-friendly, readily renewable, and respectful of the culture they are produced in. Our products are biodegradable and come in a wide variety of sizes for nearly any use.

Readily installed and applied, our Lauhala, Bac Bac and Lampac matting can be cut or trimmed without damage to the integrity of the product that would result in fraying, and are equally suited for indoor or outdoor uses. A simple treatment with a clear polyurethane or varnish provides additional sheen and durability.
